Winona Fighter Brings the Yes, Chef Tour to Philadelphia
Nashville-based punk band, Winona Fighter, is taking their newest record My Apologies To The Chef on the road from May 31 - July 20 after the album’s release on February 14. On July 12, fans in Philadelphia got to attend Winona Fighter’s first ever show in the city at the Foundry. Each night, they have been joined by a local act from the city they’re in. Philadelphia was lucky enough to have pop punk band Goal Keeper get the crowd ready for the headlining act.
The moment the band took the stage, Winona Fighter had the crowd singing, dancing, and jumping around. They had a designated fan in the pit to make sure everyone was keeping the vibes up, and they of course opened some mosh pits for fans to jump around. The energy of the crowd and the band was electric from the barricade all the way to the back of the room, so there wasn’t a bad spot to be in the venue. You could feel it anywhere in the room. It was very clear that Philadelphia fans have been anticipating a Winona Fighter show for a long time.
Winona Fighter’s setlist was made up of 16 songs, including the entirety of their newest album and a cover of “Sabotage” by Beastie Boys. They did switch up the order of the setlist a little bit in comparison to the album, opening the show with “You Look Like a Drunk Phoebe Bridgers.” The band was super interactive with the crowd, walking up to the barricade a few times throughout the show and asking questions to fans throughout the night. Every single song had the audience excited and wanting more, all the way up to them closing with “HAMMS IN A GLASS.”
